Technical (tec) diving means going beyond recreational scuba diving limits. But, tec divers will tell you that it’s really about the challenge and adventure of exploring places that no one else has ever seen. Tec diving is not for everyone, but it does attract experienced divers who want to go beyond their current limits and are willing to accept the added risks, training, investment and commitment it demands. If this is you, then Tec courses are your ticket to extreme adventure.

What is technical diving?

Technical scuba diving involves going beyond recreational scuba diving limits and includes one or more of the following:

• Diving beyond 40 metres/130 feet
• Required stage decompression
• Diving in an overhead environment beyond 40 linear metres/130 linear feet of the surface
• Accelerated decompression and/or the use of variable gas mixtures during the dive

Discover Tec Course

The Discover Tec experience introduces divers to the exciting world of technical diving within accepted recreational depth limits.

Although it’s recommended that you complete all three of the Technical diving courses you soon learn that the equipment is common to all Tec courses, if you wish to continue on through the Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50, the limits of the Discover Tec experience is just an introduction into the exciting world of technical diving

Therefore, it is easy to accommodate divers interested in very limited technical diving since the Tec 40 equipment requirements are only a bit beyond the standard recreational kit.

Minimum Age: 18 years
Min Certification/diver level: PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
Min amount of dives: 10 logged dives
Course Duration: 1 day, 1 dive
Price: (includes boat, certification and gases)

TEC 40

involves:

• In depth theory on all aspects of technical diving,
• Dive planning and the use of up to date decompression software to plan your deco dives,
• Practical sessions were you learn different styles of technical diving gear and how it all goes together.
• Confined water training sessions where you will master a whole new skill set to take you beyond recreational depth limits safely,
• Two open water training dives where you run simulations and master skills before utilizing them on decompression dives,
• One open water decompression dive.

Minimum Age: 18 years
Min Certification/diver level: PADI Advanced Open Water, Nitrox or equivalent, Deep Diver or have proof of 10 dives to 30m.
Min amount of dives: 30 logged dives
Course Duration: 3 days, 4 dives
Equipment: 1 back mount tank & 1 decompression cylinder (50% max oxygen)
Price: (includes boat, certification and gases)

Signed medical statement by a physician within the last 12 months

TEC 45

involves:

• In depth theory on all aspects of technical diving,
• Dive planning and the use of up to date decompression software to plan your deco dives,
• Practical sessions were you learn different styles of technical diving gear and how it all goes together.
• Confined water training sessions where you will master a whole new skill set to take you beyond Tec 40 depth limit safely,
• Two open water training dives where you run simulations and master skills before utilizing them on decompression dives,
• One open water decompression dive.

Minimum Age: 18 years
Min Certification/diver level: Tec 40 or equivalent, PADI Recue Diver or equivalent
Min amount of dives: 50 logged dives
Course Duration: 3 days, 4 dives
Equipment: Double back mount tanks & 1 decompression cylinder (40%-100% oxygen)

TEC 50

Involves:

• In depth theory on all aspects of technical diving,
• Dive planning and the use of up to date decompression software to plan your deco dives,
• Practical sessions were you learn different styles of technical diving gear and how it all goes together.
• Confined water training sessions where you will master a whole new skill set to take you beyond Tec 40 depth limit safely,
• Two open water training dives where you run simulations and master skills before utilizing them on decompression dives,
• Two open water decompression dives.

Min Certification/diver level: Tec 45 or equivalent, PADI Recue Diver or equivalent
Min amount of dives: 100 logged dives
Course Duration: 3 days, 4 dives
Equipment: Double back mount tanks & 2 decompression cylinder (40%-100% oxygen)

PADI/ANDI Tec Trimix Course

Ready for the outer edge of Technical Diving? The Tec Trimix diving course takes experienced tec divers and turns them into extreme divers who go deeper and visit sites where few others will ever go.

TEC TRIMIX 65

involves:

• In depth theory on all aspects of technical diving,
• Dive planning and the use of up to date decompression software to plan your deco dives,
• Practical sessions were you learn different styles of technical diving gear and how it all goes together.
• Confined water training session where you will master a whole new skill set to take you beyond Tec 50 depth limit safely,
• Two open water training dives where you run simulations and master skills before utilizing them on decompression dives,
• Three open water decompression dives.

Minimum Age: 18 years
Min Certification/diver level: Tec 50 or equivalent
Min amount of dives: 100 logged dives
Course Duration: 3 days, 4 dives
Equipment: Double back mount tanks & 2-3 decompression cylinder (40%-100% oxygen)

FULL TRIMIX COURSE

involves:

• In depth theory on all aspects of technical diving,
• Dive planning and the use of up to date decompression software to plan your deco dives,

• Confined water training session where you will master a whole new skill set to take you beyond Tec 50 or Tec Trimix 65 depth limit safely,
• Five decompression dives.

Min Certification/diver level: Tec 50 or Tec Trimix 65
Min amount of dives: 150 logged dives
Course Duration: 6 days, 6 dives
Equipment: Double back mount tanks & 3-4 decompression cylinder (40%-100% oxygen)

PADI/ANDI Sidemount Diver Course

offers:

• an alternative way to streamline in the water
• easier equipment transportation when topside
• reduced lower back strain
• provides redundant gas supply
• ability to monitor all equipment because it’s in front of you
• increased gas supply for longer dives

Because you are able to move the cylinder from your back to your side, it instantly takes the pressure off your back and gives you more flexibility to move and enjoy your dive. Plus, you don’t have to walk to the dive site with the cylinders on your back. You can enter the water and clip them on and go.

Side mount is great for cave divers and for divers that would like to extend their dive time.

Min Certification/diver level: PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
Min amount of dives: Have logged 20 or more dives
Course Duration: 3 days, 4 dives

PADI/ANDI TEC Side mount Diver Course

offers:

The same benefits as the recreational side mount and extra skills such as:

Stage rigging, breathing hose management, staging bottles/cylinders on and off the diver, Air sharing and modified frog kick techniques are a few of the skills covered during this course.

The Tec Side mount Diver course is a great way to get started into technical diving because the skills you learn in this course will train you to handle multiple cylinders on a single dive.

You’ll learn about the advantages of diving with a side mount configuration and how to set up a tec side mount harness. You’ll get hands-on training during one confined water session and four open water dives where you’ll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six side mounted cylinders.

You can combine what you learn in the Tec Side mount Diver course with other  tec courses that you take, or certifications you ’ve already earned, to take advantage of sidemount’s cylinder configuration and handling advantages.

Overhead Environment Programs

Cave diving is an entirely new world after coming from recreational diving. It is the highest level of technical diving that will improve your diving knowledge and skills.

Different equipment and techniques are required and often the whole way you have been diving has to be adapted.

Exploring the underground world is an indescribable feeling! Leaving a part of a cave decorated with stalactites and stalagmites, which then opens up into a huge chamber will take your breath away.

Padi/Andi Cavern Course

Andi Explorer Cave Diver Course
